Private daycares in Manitoba are clearly not receiving the recognition they deserve for their significant contributions to early learning and the community. Instead of being appreciated for their service, they’re often perceived solely as profit-driven enterprises. Interestingly, despite the substantial funding allocated to government-funded programs, private childcare fees remain lower when compared and calculated. Additionally, families and educators opting for private childcare are seemingly excluded from accessing support services. This unequal treatment sends a troubling message to all involved parties—business owners, educators, and families. It’s imperative for responsible entities to acknowledge these challenges and provide support to address the negative impacts faced by the private childcare sector.

I fully support the efforts outlined in this article for several reasons. First, the disparity in funding between non-profit and private childcare centers in Manitoba is unjust and creates an unequal playing field. All childcare providers should have access to essential grants to ensure fair compensation for staff and lower costs for families.

Second, advocating for parental choice in childcare is crucial. Families should have the freedom to choose quality care that meets their needs, rather than being limited by a fixed rate.

Lastly, fair treatment of childcare educators is essential. They should receive equitable support, benefits, and recognition for their valuable contributions. This not only promotes justice but also helps maintain a motivated and empowered workforce.

Overall, these efforts aim to create a more inclusive and equitable childcare system that prioritizes the well-being of families, children, and staff, which is why I fully support them.

As a new immigrant family, our children are not able to enter public schools, we have registered in many public schools and currently there are no vacancies, but we can’t leave our children at home every day, our children are also the hope of Canada’s future, we hope that we can be treated fairly by the government. We also hope to get the subsidies we deserve.

I believe it is the right for every parents to have top quality care for their children. Home daycare provider have a ratio of 1 to 5 except on inservice days. Public daycare have a ratio 1 to 8.
So why treat us differently. We are providing a service for parents and at the same time bringing up our own children.

WE CAN DO IT!!

Greetings to all our valued families, staff members and members of our community!

Today, we embark on a journey to share crucial insights about childcare in Manitoba and
nationwide. Your decision to be part of our private childcare programs is deeply appreciated,
and we believe it’s our obligation to educate you about the distinctions that impact our
children, families, and dedicated staff.

Understanding the Difference: Funded vs. Non-funded Centres in Manitoba

In Manitoba there is a disparity in treatment which creates an inequitable and unjust situation
for the children, staff, and families of private centres. It is a fundamental issue that demands
attention and resolution to create a fair and level playing field for all childcare providers. Non-
profit organizations, or funded childcare centres, are granted the opportunity to apply for
various financial aids in Manitoba. These include operational grants, wage subsidy grants,
improvement grants, pension matching, staff retention and training grants. This financial
support not only significantly reduces childcare costs for families attending non-profit centres
but also ensures fair compensation for dedicated childcare staff and effective management.
However, the same cannot be said for Private Centres, which, despite meeting identical
licensing requirements and regulations, do not have access to these essential grants. As a
result, private childcare centres must rely solely on parent fees to cover operational costs,
leading to higher childcare expenses for families.

This disparity in treatment creates an inequitable and unjust situation for the children, staff,
and families of private centres. It is a fundamental issue that demands attention and resolution
to create a fair and level playing field for all childcare providers.

Advocating for Parental Choice and Quality Care

Our mission is clear—to provide top-tier childcare that exceeds expectations. We strive for excellence, and our specialization is a testament to our dedication. We advocate for a fundamental right—parental choice in childcare. Every family deserves the liberty to choose quality care over a fixed $10/day rate.

Advocating for Fair Treatment of Childcare Educators

It is our firm belief that they should receive equitable support, benefits, and recognition, mirroring the standards afforded to every employee in funded programs.

Ensuring equality in treatment is not only a matter of justice but also crucial for maintaining a
motivated and empowered team. By acknowledging the valuable contributions of our childcare
educators and providing them with the same benefits and support as their counterparts in
funded programs, we reinforce our commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable work
environment.
